WhatsApp group assistant buyer guide: five options for real team work

Choose a WhatsApp group assistant for your team's actual work. Compare five options, setup, published prices and limits, with a practical group test.

By Michael Kisilenko · · 6 min read

Key takeaways

  • Built-in AI, a group participant and an export analyzer solve different problems.
  • Cole, Groupy and Anyx document group features; group participation alone is not exclusive to Anyx.
  • Compare the source messages, answer destination, setup burden and billing unit.
  • Try one internal group and check decisions, owners and unanswered questions against the conversation.

A WhatsApp group assistant should fit the work your team already does: answering questions together, tracking commitments or catching up privately. Start by choosing between built-in AI, a service that joins the group and a tool that analyzes an export. Then check what it can read, who receives its answers and how you pay.

This is the Anyx blog. Product descriptions and published prices were checked on October 22, 2026. This is a documentation comparison, not a hands-on benchmark. The order below follows product categories, not a ranking. All examples are fictional.

Which kind of group assistant do you need?

A small business may run its work through staff, supplier and client groups. That is different from operating a customer-support inbox. An inbox tool can be useful for routing inbound sales messages, but that does not establish that it follows an existing team’s conversation.

A private assistant is another distinct choice. See our personal versus group assistant guide before assuming a private chat serves the whole team.

Product Documented route Consider it when Check before choosing
Meta AI Built into WhatsApp You need help available inside the app Availability and the specific feature in your account
ThreadRecap Export a conversation for analysis You want to review an existing history Export preparation and the price for your file
Cole by Pocodot Assistant in group and private chats Your team works across several messaging channels Channel setup, connected accounts and credits
Groupy Group participant or history upload You want group questions, summaries or moderation Group settings, summary destination and limits
Anyx Group agent plus separate AI Notes You want group answers and an account/email briefing Group connection, captured history and note recipients

An export tool can suit a historical review; built-in AI may suffice for occasional questions. Consider a group agent for ongoing shared work.

Which five options should you consider?

Meta AI: start with what your app already offers

WhatsApp’s Meta AI page describes in-chat assistance and unread-message summaries. It explicitly warns that features may not be available to everyone. Check your actual account before choosing a separate subscription for that task. This guide does not establish universal language support or a scheduled owner briefing from Meta AI.

ThreadRecap: review a conversation you export

ThreadRecap describes exporting a chat, seeing an overview and unlocking the full record. It advertises voice-message transcription. Consider it for a bounded review of past messages; plan the export and another upload when you need a newer record. This route is different from inviting a participant into the live group.

Cole: work across messaging channels

Pocodot’s group documentation says Cole receives WhatsApp group messages as background and responds to mentions, its name or replies. Its homepage also describes other messaging channels. Cole deserves consideration when work spans those channels. These are provider statements, not evidence that we tested its accuracy, account isolation or actions.

Groupy: questions, summaries and moderation

Groupy’s site describes group questions, scheduled summaries and moderation. It says summaries can go to the group or privately in quiet mode. That is relevant if managing the conversation itself matters to you. Check the enabled settings and limits; do not assume private summaries are exclusive to Anyx.

Anyx: group answers with a separate owner briefing

Anyx joins a WhatsApp group and answers when tagged, or through a configured group routine. AI Notes are a separate feature: decisions, unanswered questions and action items go to your account and can arrive by email. Notes are never posted to the group. The Send to my WhatsApp button sends one to your private chat.

The AI Notes documentation explains the output. Anyx captures messages after joining unless older text is imported. A briefing cannot report an agreement made only on a phone call. For groups spread across clients, see the business group guide.

How should you compare price and setup?

Compare billing units: a subscription, action-credit allowance and one-off file payment buy different things.

Product Published entry information checked October 22, 2026 Setup or cost question
Meta AI Availability depends on the feature and account Is the needed feature already available to you?
ThreadRecap Short chats from $3, paid per conversation What does the upload screen quote for this export?
Cole Paid plans from $19 per workspace/month; one-time free credits How many credits does your workload consume?
Groupy Basic listed at $10/month for one group Do the daily question and group limits fit?
Anyx Starter listed at $35/month; trial for new subscribers Does the current plan cover your groups and usage?

Anyx setup involves adding its contact to a group you administer and tagging it from your connected number. Tell members what the agent does. Other providers have their own steps; setup and maintenance vary.

What should you test in a real team conversation?

Use a fictional conversation first. Here is a synthetic delivery discussion for Cedar Events:

Fictional conversation, for illustration
Cedar Events: room setupFictional internal team
  1. DanaThe client approved the smaller room for the October 28 event.Decision09:10
  2. AmirCould the chairs arrive at 14:00?Question09:12
  3. NoaI will check with the supplier by noon.Task09:14
  4. @Anyx what was agreed, who owns the next step and what is still unanswered?

Look for this distinction: room choice agreed, delivery time proposed, Noa responsible for checking. Compare the answer with the messages. Add a correction and ask again: does it update without inventing a commitment?

  1. Choose one job

For example, identify decisions and unresolved delivery questions.

  2. Set the destination

Choose a group answer, private review or email briefing deliberately.

  3. Check the evidence

Inspect owners, dates, missing answers and any unsupported claims.

  4. Check the next step

Did someone actually take responsibility, rather than simply receive a polished summary?

This is a test template, not a claim that every listed product accepts the same prompt or passed the scenario.

What limits and permissions should you check?

Ask what messages the tool receives, whether old history is included, who sees output and how to stop access. An encrypted messaging app does not by itself describe an added provider’s storage or processing. Read that provider’s current policy.

WhatsApp’s Help Center says group admins can turn on Restricted chat, which blocks linked devices in that chat and which WhatsApp says helps keep out unofficial clients and AI agents. Ask any provider what happens in a group where an admin turns it on, and tell your admins before you start.

For Anyx, routine approval happens when the routine is created; scheduled runs do not ask again each time. Start with a read-only question or a draft rather than an externally sending routine. Verify any important outcome with the responsible person. The next step is one internal group, one task and a result you can check.

FAQ

Can an AI assistant join an existing WhatsApp group?

Some third-party services document joining groups as participants, including Cole, Groupy and Anyx. Their setup and supported behavior differ. Check the provider’s current instructions rather than assuming every personal AI assistant can join.

Is Anyx the only WhatsApp group assistant?

No. Other products document group participation. Anyx is a group agent with tagged answers and separate AI Notes in your account and email. Choose around the workflow rather than an exclusivity claim.

Which WhatsApp group assistant is best for my team?

Start with the task: a quick built-in answer, analysis of an exported chat, ongoing group questions, moderation or an owner briefing. Then check setup, recipients, permissions, cost and the result on one small test.

Does Anyx post AI Notes into the group?

No. AI Notes are saved in your account and can arrive by email. Send to my WhatsApp sends a note to your private chat with Anyx. Tagged answers and configured group routines are separate group outputs.
