AI for family and friends WhatsApp groups: 10 examples

Ten fictional examples of an AI assistant in family and friends WhatsApp groups, from trips and school parents to renovations, and how to ask for consent.

Key takeaways

  • Anyx emails you a private note of each group's decisions, unanswered questions and action items, and never posts it in the group.
  • In the group, Anyx replies when someone tags @Anyx, and your reminders stay in your private chat.
  • On Pro and Max, a routine can run for a group, such as a weekly check-in that every member sees.
  • Family, school and community groups should be told first, and any member may object.

An AI assistant in a personal WhatsApp group keeps track of what the group decided, who promised what and which questions went unanswered, so you don’t have to scroll back. With Anyx, you get that as a private email note, can tag @Anyx with a question, and set reminders in your private chat. Here are 10 fictional examples.

Disclosure: this is the Anyx blog. Every group, name and message below is fictional.

What can an AI assistant do in a personal group?

Anyx is an AI agent that works inside WhatsApp. In your personal groups it does four things:

  • Emails you a note. Add Anyx to a group you manage, tag it once from your own number, and tell the members (setup guide). You then get one note per group by email, every 24 hours by default. Sections include Needs your attention, Decisions, Unanswered, Action items and Forgotten / no follow-up. Notes are never posted to the group. To read one in WhatsApp, open it in your account and tap Send to my WhatsApp.
  • Answers when tagged. Tag @Anyx with a question about the chat, and it replies in the group, for everyone to see.
  • Reminds you privately. In your private chat, ask for a reminder once or on a schedule. Anyx is set up to confirm the details before it saves one.
  • Runs a routine for a group, on Pro and Max. For example, a Sunday check-in that every member sees (routines).

What does that look like in 10 personal groups?

01

NeedsPro or Max, for a group routine

03

04

A shared home

ProblemFour flatmates promised to split the internet bill. Nobody followed up.

What to sendRemind me on the 1st of every month to pay my share of the rent.

08

ResultAction items list who took which chapter, with a due date where someone said one. Open questions carry forward until the group resolves them.

What does tagging @Anyx look like?

In the trip group, someone asks and Anyx answers in the group. The next note sorts the same items into sections, by email.

Should you tell the group before you add Anyx?

Yes. Anyx is a member of the group, so it receives what everyone writes. The docs ask you to connect only groups you administer and to let the members know. In personal groups, that matters even more:

  • Family groups mix plans with private news. Ask before, not after.
  • School-parent groups include parents you barely know, writing about their children. If you don’t manage the group, don’t add Anyx.
  • Community groups, such as a building committee or a club, are semi-public. Expect some members to object.

If someone objects, listen, and be ready to remove Anyx or leave that group out. Then post a short message, like this one from the setup guide:

I added Anyx, an AI assistant, to this group. It helps me keep track of decisions and open items and sends me a private summary. It does not post summaries here, and it only replies in the group when someone tags @Anyx.

If you add a group routine, say that it will post scheduled messages. More questions to ask first are in our privacy checklist.

What does it cost for personal groups?

Anyx is a paid product, and plans are counted by groups:

Plan Price Groups Routine for a group
Starter $35 a month Up to 4 No
Pro $60 a month Up to 30 Yes
Max $120 a month Up to 120 Yes

Yearly is 20% cheaper. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial, and checkout asks for a card. If you have one quiet family group, you probably don’t need it. It makes more sense when several busy groups compete for your attention.

What are the limits?

  • It only knows what it saw. Anyx only sees chats it is part of, from the moment it joined. Calls and in-person plans are missing.
  • It is not instant. The first note is processed on an upcoming scheduled run. No messages in an interval means no email.
  • Files are partial. Voice notes are transcribed. For photos and documents, Anyx uses what it can read, such as captions.
  • Recipients see the whole note, including Worth checking.
  • It stores group messages. While Anyx is in a group, it stores that group’s messages. Pausing or removing it does not delete stored data; deletion is by request to support@anyx.app. Anyx does not train AI models on your data.

FAQ

Will Anyx post summaries in my family group?

No. Notes are never posted to the group. They go to your email, or to up to 5 recipients you choose. In the group, Anyx replies only when someone tags it, or when you set up a routine for that group.

Do I need to tell the group before I add Anyx?

Yes. Connect only groups you manage, and tell the members what Anyx does and where the notes go. In family, school and community groups, members may object. If they do, listen, and be ready to remove Anyx.

How much does Anyx cost for personal groups?

It is a paid product. Plans are counted by groups: Starter is $35 a month for up to 4 groups, Pro $60 for up to 30, and Max $120 for up to 120. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial, and checkout asks for a card.
